The firm may wish to create their own Master files, e.g. Firm Audit, Firm Review, Firm Compilation, etc. If you do not have your own Firm master, we recommend using the Jazzit FULMST template as a master file. The FULMST contains not only the Jazzit master templates found in the GENMST but a set a Caseware leadsheets found in typical files.
You have TWO options when updating the Firm masters and FULMST:
Method 1 (recommended - uses less time): Copy in all the update templates from the GENMST to the Firm master or FULMST using the Copy components method.
Method 2: The same method as updating the Jazzit Master File. New working papers and letters need to be added using Copy components from the Jazzit Master File.
Method 1
Open the fulmst (or firm master) file in Caseware Working Papers and go to File > Copy Components. The Copy Components Wizard will open. Select the Copy Into This File option.
Click on the File tab and browse to where you have saved the GENMST file.
Select the genmst.ac file and click on the Next button to continue to the next screen.
The Copy Components screen will allow you to choose which components you want to copy from the GENMST.
Select The following components and check the Documents option. Click on the Deselect All button and manually select which folders and/or documents you want to copy in if your Firm master is engagement specific or click on the Select All button if you wish to copy in all the GENMST documents (recommended for FULMST).
Click on the Next button to continue to the next screen.
The Clearing Components screen can be ignored in this instance. Click on the Next button to continue to the next screen.
The Copy Components Wizard Complete screen provides you with a summary of what components you have selected to copy as well as the destination and source files. Click on Finish.
The documents in the Firm master or FULMST will be overwritten with the GENMST documents.
Open the Jazzit financial statements and confirm that you are connected to the Resource Centre and that everything is showing as updated. Open the Diagnostic Report and ensure that there are no outstanding Working Papers or Letters that needs to be updated.
Make any Firm Master modifications to individual CaseView documents as necessary. For example, you would need to set the engagement type to “Review” in the Home Menu of the financial statement template if you have created your own Review Engagement Master File.
