Step 5 - Update all modules without customization dates

We strongly recommend disabling Multiple Document Windows before using Step 5. Access this option in Tools > Options > Interface. See https://documentation.jazzit.com/multiple_document_windows.htm for more information.

It is recommended you update the RC Update Control individually before activating Step 5. Do this when you see on the top green bar. Click on Update RC Control at the top to update the RC Update Control individually.

Newer versions of the RC Update Control will automatically guide you to updating the RC Update. The button for Step 5 will temporarily change to update the RC Update alone.

Select Yes when prompted to retain input cells.

Click on the Step 5 button to update all the modules with the yellow status indicator ( ).

You will be prompted to backup. The backup is saved in the update directory (klibupdate).

You will be asked whether you want documents to be added automatically to the Master file (GENMST) indicated in Step 1. You should click ‘Yes’ unless troubleshooting.
New templates not present in the master file will be automatically added to the master.

You will be asked to automatically update the document managers in the Resource Centre (KLIB) and Master file. Click ‘Yes’ unless troubleshooting. Templates in the connected master file will be updated automatically if they have are:
Instructions to update letter templates to the master file are shown in subsequent pages.

Modules that do not get updated
Modules that have a customization date in the Customization date/info field will be skipped. These modules should be updated as discussed in the Customization Letter for Your Package section.

If you still see a next to Step 5, some modules may not have been updated. Try recalculating the CaseView document (Tools > Recalculate) to refresh the status buttons. If they have not been customized you can click on their individual status buttons to update them. The status button will also update/add templates to the connected master file using the above parameters.

Step 5 being slow or not completing?
Server/remote Drives
Having your Resource Centre, Jazzit Master file, and update directory located on a server can have a negative impact on update speed or prevent it from completing properly. If you notice these issues in Step 5, try relocating your Resource Centre, Master File and Update directory onto your local drive (C:). Temporary change the locations to the local drive locations (Steps 1 and 3) before trying Step 5. After updates all are complete, the relocated files can be copied back to their original server locations.

Syncing Software
Disabling OneDrive or other syncing software will also help speed up the Step 5 process. Syncing software can be enabled once Step 5 is complete.

Genmst Locked
If step 5 has trouble writing to the Genmst folder ensure that the Genmst Caseware file does not have Protection enabled. If you get a login prompt when opening the Genmst, protection has been enabled. Go to Caseware > Tools > Protection to access Protection settings.
