JZ101 Converting Legacy Letters to new ones (RL to JZRL, EL to JZEL)
A new engagement letter template (JZEL) and a new management representation letter (JZRL) were introduced December 2017 as part of the introduction of CSRE 2400. However many existing client files may still carry the older engagement letters (EL) and management representation letters (RL). These older letters are no longer actively updated to meet the new standards. Client files should be using the newer JZEL and JZRL going forward
Normally you add JZEL and JZRL to your existing files by using Copy Components from genmst.
However there is a alternate way if you already have the older EL and RL in your file.
Change the identifier
Right click on your old letter in the Caseware document manager and click on Properties > General.
Change the Identifier from the old to the new. (EL > JZEL and RL > JZRL). If the Identifier is greyed out, ensure that your letter is closed.
Open the letter from the document manager by double clicking on it. Click on Update from Resource Centre on the top left corner of the letter.
The letter will update and convert over to the newer letter.
