Copy Components and Updating Functions

The Copy Components wizard in Caseware allows you to copy in new documents from either GENMST or FULMST to your existing Caseware client files. For example, to add the prepaid working paper template to your client Document Manager, copy the template from either GENMST or FULMST using Caseware’s Copy Components (File > Copy Components).

Copy Components brings in a complete document which may overwrite an existing document if it already resides within your client file. Once a document is overwritten using Copy Components, you can only retrieve the original from a backup copy.

If your firm does not already have master files, we recommend using FULMST as your starting point when creating new Caseware client files. GENMST will not provide a complete document index when used as the source file.

If your firm has created its own master files, you do not need to keep FULMST on your server. The Jazzit Administrator should maintain a copy of GENMST in order to be able to add new templates from our website in the future to your master files.

Refer to Copy the Jazzit Master Templates into an Existing Caseware File for more information on how to copy the Jazzit Templates into a Caseware client file.

Updating Jazzit Fundamentals Overview

The update feature in Jazzit does three important things:

Your master or client files need to be connected to your Resource Centre in order to update.

Our patented updating process lets you know when an update is available:

Jazzit templates automatically compare the version date in your client or master file document with the corresponding module in the Resource Centre.  When you click on the Update from Resource Centre button, you have the choice of bringing in those changes.  If you bring in these changes and decide not to keep them, simply close the CaseView document without saving to revert to the last previously saved version.

In the working papers and letters when you update the document in your client file you may receive a message asking if you would like to keep information within input cells and paragraphs.  If you choose yes, those values are retained, if you choose no, then the document is replaced without the information you typed into input cells and paragraphs. For more information on input cells please click here.

Some working papers, such as property, plant and equipment, also have a message warning that you may lose data if the number of rows of data in the document does not match the number of rows in the Resource Centre document.

As an addition, the message will indicate which groups do not match the Resource Centre rows.

In the Jazzit financial statements, the statement pages can be updated by clicking on the associated Update from Resource Centre button in the Admin area of the home menu.

In the notes to financial statements, each note is updated individually. Updates to notes are available when you see the button on the right of each note heading change to a yellow warning indicator. Right-click on the yellow warning indicator and select Update from Resource Centre to update the note to the latest Resource Centre version.
