Assign Map Numbers to the Trial Balance

  • Copy in the mapping structure using File > Copy Components. Refer to Copy the Jazzit Master Templates into an Existing Caseware File for more information on copying the mapping structure.
  • To assign the client GL accounts to map numbers, go to Account > Assign Mapping Numbers in Caseware.
  • Unmapped GL accounts are shown on the left and the Jazzit map numbers are shown on the right.
  • Highlight the unassigned GL account(s) on the left (you can use CTRL+ click or to select multiple accounts or CTRL+SHIFT to highlight a range) and look for the relevant Jazzit map number on the right. Map numbers that can be mapped to are bolded.
  • Click on the Map button at the bottom of the screen. This will move the selected GL account(s) to the selected Jazzit map number.

If you've mapped an account incorrectly, unmap the account and remap it to the correct map number.

  • Continue the above steps until all the GL accounts have been mapped (the left side is empty).

You can view the account balances for the current, prior and 2nd prior year in the Assign Mapping Numbers dialog. Right-click anywhere on the dialog and select Show Balance, PY or PY2 balance.

  • Click Apply to save your progress and apply the changes to the client file. This will update the balance in the Jazzit financial statements.
  • Click OK once all the GL accounts have been mapped.
  • Open the Jazzit financial statements by double-clicking on the document in the Document Manager in Caseware.

  • Switch between your Caseware and the Jazzit financial statements in order to see the balances moving into your financial statements.
  • Make any revisions to your map assignments either directly in the working trial balance Map No column or back in the Account > Assign Mapping Numbers dialog box.

When you assign map numbers to the client accounts, you determine both the account properties for the trial balance, and the location of that account balance on the financial statement. You may find it helpful to open the Jazzit financial statements when you start mapping.
